• title = OPTIONAL (if not specified, then the "pi" or "sa" parameter is used for the title)
• collapsible = OPTIONAL (disabled by default; set to YES to enable)
• en = English translation
• sa = Sanskrit; note: if "title" and "pi" are both not provided, then this value is the defaulted title and should be provided in IAST, otherwise it should be in Devanagari
• sa-Latn = Sanskrit IAST transliteration; use this if "sa" is provided in Devanagari
• pi = Pali; note: if "title" is not provided, then this value is the defaulted title and should be provided in IAST, otherwise it should be provided in an appropriate script
• pi-Latn = Pali IAST transliteration; use this if "pi" is provided in a non-Latin script
• as = Assamese
• as-Latn = Assamese transliteration
• bn = Bengali

• si = Sinhalese
• si-Latn = Sinhalese transliteration
• bo = Tibetan
• bo-Latn = Tibetan transliteration; please specify by adding "Wylie:" or "THL:" or "ZWPY:" before the transliteration but after the "=". Multiple transcriptions may be listed if each is separated with "<br/>". (All this is demonstrated in the examples below.)

• tl = Tagalog
• tl-tglg = Tagalog Baybayin
• th = Thai
• th-Latn = Thai RTGS transliteration

Required parameters: Either "title" or "sa" (Sanskrit) or "pi" (Pali) is a required parameter. Additionally, optional transcription parameters will not be displayed unless the main language parameter is provided. ie. zh-Hant will not be displayed unless zh is also filled in.

Display order: Above is the actual order in which provided translations are displayed regardless of the order in which the parameters are passed to this template.

Multiword values: Language-specific parameters can be passed multiword strings as demonstrated in the examples below.

Examples

For all examples the template code on the left displays as shown on the right.

Example 1, basic demonstration

Translations of this is a title
English	example-1
Sanskrit	example-1 (IAST: example-1)
Pali	example-1 (example-1)
Glossary of Buddhism

Self-explanatory.

Example 2, Pali-parameter title demonstration

Translations of if "title" is blank or absent, this is the title
English	example-2
Sanskrit	example-2 (IAST: example-2)
Pali	if "title" is blank or absent, this is the title (example-2)
Glossary of Buddhism

Listing a title may not be needed.

Example 3, Sanskrit-parameter title demonstration

Translations of "title" and "pi" are both blank so now "sa" is the title
English	example-3
Sanskrit	"title" and "pi" are both blank so now "sa" is the title (IAST: example-3)
Glossary of Buddhism

This example shows what happens if no English or Pali translation is provided. It also shows what happens if you list a trancription without filling in the main language parameter (ie. nothing, the template ignores it).

Example 4, English titles

Translations of if the title is in English "en" is unnecessary
Sanskrit	example-4 (IAST: example-4)
Pali	example-4 (example-4)
Glossary of Buddhism

The "en" parameter can be left blank or omitted if the English translation is the title, however, if there are multiple English translations which are in wide circulation it may help to list them under "en" with only the single most relevant translation being listed in the title.

Example 5, collapsability demonstration

Translations of Example-5 (Collapsible)
English	English
Sanskrit	Sanskrit (IAST: Sanskrit transliteration)
Pali	Pali (Pali transliteration)
Assamese	Assamese (Assamese transliteration)
Bengali	Bengali (Bengali transliteration)
Burmese	Burmese (MLCTS: Burmese transliteration)
Chinese	Chinese Traditional Chinese (Traditional) (Pinyin: Chinese transliteration)
Indonesian	Indonesian
Japanese	Japanese (Kanji: Also Japanese) (Katakana: Japanese Again) (Rōmaji: Japanese transliteration)
Khmer	Khmer (UNGEGN: Khmer transliteration)
Korean	Korean (Hanja: Also Korean) (RR: Korean transliteration)

Tagalog	Tagalog (Baybayin: Also Tagalog)
Thai	Thai (RTGS: Thai transliteration)
Vietnamese	Vietnamese (Chữ Nôm: Also Vietnamese)

Glossary of Buddhism

If there are a lot of entries it may be worth enabling collapsibility.

Example 6, order is irrelevant

Translations of Four Noble Truths ~ Example-6
Sanskrit	चत्वारि आर्यसत्यानि (IAST: catvāri āryasatyāni)
Bengali	চত্বারি আর্য সত্য (Chôttari Arjô Shôttô)
Chinese	四圣谛 四聖諦 (Traditional) (Pinyin: sìshèngdì)
Korean	사성제 (Hanja: 四聖諦) (RR: sa-seong-je)
Tibetan	འཕགས་པའི་བདེན་པ་བཞི་ (Wylie: 'phags pa'i bden pa bzhi THL: pakpé denpa shyi)
Tagalog	Ang mga Apat na Maharlikang Katotohanan (Baybayin: ᜀᜅ᜴ ᜋ᜴ᜄ ᜀᜉᜆ᜴ ᜈ ᜋᜑᜎᜒᜃᜅ᜴ ᜃᜆᜓ︀ᜆᜓ︀ᜑᜈᜈ᜴)
Vietnamese	Tứ Diệu Đế (Chữ Nôm: 四妙諦)
Glossary of Buddhism

Although order is irrelevant for how the template displays, it is polite to leave things in order so editors can more easily change whatever needs changing.

{{Buddhist term

Example 7, two ways of Wiki-interlinking

Translations of Four Noble Truths ~ Example-7
Vietnamese	Tứ Diệu Đế (Chữ Nôm: 四聖諦)
Glossary of Buddhism

Interlinking non-English language Wikipedia pages can be done by directly specifying the language and page title of the desired destination article with "EXAMPLE" where "eg" is the letter sequence specifying the language in the URL ("en" for English, "ja" for Japanese", "zh" for Chinese, and so on).

Interlinking to Wiktionary can be done with "EXAMPLE".

In this example the modern Vietnamese links to the relevant article on Vietnamese Wikipedia, while the traditional Chữ Nôm example links to Wiktionary. Interlinking is unnecessary but may be helpful on pages where the English-language Wikipedia article is a stub but where the corresponding article on another language Wikipedia is more informative.
