Infobox Canadian Football League biography

Template documentation[view] [edit] [history] [purge]

Intended uses

This infobox template is intended to be used for current and former Canadian Football League (CFL) players, coaches and administrators.

This infobox template is not intended to be used for current and former National Football League (NFL) players, coaches and administrators, nor for players, coaches and administrators in the several NFL predecessor leagues, including the American Professional Football Association (APFA, 1920–1921), All-America Football Conference (AAFC, 1946–1949), American Football League (AFL, 1960–1969). This template is also not used for Arena Football League players, coaches and administrators. All of the foregoing use Template:Infobox NFL biography. This template may be more appropriate for a player, coach, or administrator who played in the NFL but is most notable for their CFL career.

This template is also not used for American college football players, which use Template:Infobox college football player, nor for American college football coaches, which use Template:Infobox college coach, the uniform template for college coaches in all American college sports.

Military service

<!--Military service-->
| module = {{Infobox military person|embed=yes

}}

If the player served notably in the military, you may include the following parameters, using |module={{infobox military person|embedTemplate:=yes}}. See Template:Infobox military person for further information.

• allegiance – the country or other power the person served. Multiple countries may be indicated together with the corresponding dates. This field should not be used to indicate a particular service branch, which is better indicated by the branch field (below).
• branch – the service branch (Army, Navy, etc.) the person was a part of; this should be left blank for people who were not part of a formal armed service, or who predate the establishment of formal service branches.
• serviceyears – the years during which the person served.
• rank – the highest rank achieved by the person. Unusual cases, such as this rank not being the last achieved, or the rank being awarded posthumously, may be noted. In cases where the person held different ranks in different armies, multiple ranks should be specified with a date and country note for each.
• unit – for persons who are not notable as commanding officers, the unit (company, battalion, regiment, etc.) in which they served. This should be omitted if the commands are specified (as above).
• battles – any notable battles or wars in which the person participated. This should be omitted if a campaignbox is used in conjunction with this template.
• awards – any notable military awards or decorations the person received.

Use as a child template

The embed parameter is used when embedding this infobox into another.

This infobox may be used to create a genre-specific section within {{Infobox person}} (or similar biographical infobox templates) for cases where a person may be notable in more than one field; a generic example is shown below. For guidance on usage, see Wikipedia:Infobox modules. Also see the Template:Infobox documentation which explains embedding and subboxes.

{{Infobox person
| name =
| image =
| caption =
| birth_date =
| birth_place =
| <!-- etc. -->
| module =
  {{Infobox CFL biography | embed=yes
  | parameter-1 =
  | parameter-2 =
  | parameter-3 =
  | parameter-4 =
  | <!-- etc. -->
  }}
}}

Embedding other templates

The module parameter is used for embedding other templates into this infobox.

{{Infobox CFL biography
| name =
| <!-- etc. -->
| module =
  {{Infobox ABC
  | embed = yes <!-- or child=yes / subbox=yes -->
  | <!-- etc. -->
  }}
}}

Microformat

The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the person's details parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia or via a browser tool operated by a reader, to (for example) add the subject to an address book or database. For more information about the use of microformats on Wikipedia, please see the microformat project.

Sub-templates

Date-of-birth ("bday") information will only be included in the microformat if {{birth date}}, or {{birth date and age}} are used in the infobox. (Do not use these if the date is before 1583). Be cautious about using these if the person is still living, per WP:DOB.

To include a URL, use {{URL}}.

Please do not remove instances of these sub-templates.

hCard uses HTML classes including:
