Template:Infobox water ride

Template documentation[view] [edit] [history] [purge]

This template should only be used in articles on individual water rides. It should not be used in the park's article, as the auto-categorization will place the article in several inappropriate categories. Also, it should not be used in park articles because most water rides should have their own article, and cluttering up the park's article with infoboxes simply doesn't look good.

Parameters

name

The water ride's full, official name. Should not be linked.

image

The primary picture of the water ride. Use only the filename of the image. For example, you should use "Kingda Ka.jpg" instead of ""

image_width

Set the size of the above image. If "" would have been used otherwise, the imagedimensions is "200px". Must be expressed as a number, followed by "px".

caption

The caption for the picture.

location

The park in which the ride is located. Use the full, properly capitalized name of the park (however do not include disambiguatory brackets - see locationarticle), and do not link it. It will be linked automatically, and the water ride will be added to a "Roller water rides at (location)" category, so it is very important that the park name be exact.

locationarticle

If a park article contains disambiguatory brackets, for example La Ronde (amusement park), then use the complete name here. This will direct the text in the 'location' field to the right page.

section

The section of the park in which the water ride is located. Should not be linked, a section link will be automatically generated using the location parameter. For example, a location of Six Flags Great Adventure and a section of Golden Kingdom will make this link: Golden Kingdom.

status

The status/condition of the ride. (e.g. Under Construction, Open, Closed, Demolished, Under Investigation)

type

The primary type: "Log flume", "Raft", "Tow boat ride", "Shoot the Chute", or "Free flow boat ride". This should not be anything else and should not be linked. It will be linked automatically, and the water ride will be added to the appropriate category: Category:Log flume rides, Category:River rapids rides, Category:Tow boat rides, Category:Shoot the Chute rides, or Category:Free flow boat rides.

soft_opened

Many water rides have a "soft opening" before their media day and official opening, in this case the date of the soft opening should be used.

opened

The first day on which the water ride was open to the public. This should be properly linked according to the Manual of Style.

closed

The day on which the water ride was closed, in the case of water rides no longer operating. This should be properly linked according to the Manual of Style. For operating water rides, this parameter should be omitted or left blank. It should only be used if the water ride is permanently closed, if there is any chance that the water rides will operate again, leave this parameter blank.

manufacturer

The full, official name of the water ride's primary manufacturer. This should NOT be linked, it will be automatically linked and it will add the water ride to a category for that manufacturer.

designer

The water ride's designer. This will not be automatically linked or add the water ride to a category.

model

The water ride's model.

course

The course layout.

lift

The type of lift mechanism for the water ride.

height_ft, height_m, drop_ft, drop_m, length_ft, length_m, speed_mph, speed_km/h

All of these parameters must use values that are entirely numeric. The water ride's height, drop, and length may be expressed in feet or meters (if feet and inches are given, use decimals instead) and speed may be expressed in miles per hour or kilometers per hour. Conversions to SI/metric (meters or km/h) or imperial/US customary (feet or mph) will automatically be calculated and included - this is why these parameters must be entirely numeric. For example, a height value of "230" must be used instead of "230 ft" or anything similar.

duration

The actual duration of the ride.

angle

The maximum vertical angle, in degrees, attained by the water ride (particularly on flumes). This will usually, but not always, be the angle of the first drop.

capacity

The maximum number of guests that the water ride can accommodate in one hour.

cost

The amount of money the water ride cost to build, expressed in the currency of the country where the water ride is located.

acceleration

The rate of acceleration of the water ride. This should usually be left blank.

gforce

The maximum G force that riders experience during the ride.

restriction_ft, restriction_in, restriction_cm

Height restriction, i.e. "You must be this tall to ride." Either

1. give the height in feet and (or) inches using {}, {} or
2. give the height in centimetres using {}

All values must be entirely numeric. The template will automatically convert the values and display them in feet and inches and in centimeters.

previousattraction

If this ride replaced another, please give the name of the attraction it replaced. If there is an appropriate article, provide a link to it here: "Back to the Future: The Ride".

replacement

If this ride was replaced by another, please give the name of the attraction that replaced it. If there is an appropriate article, provide a link to it here: "The Simpsons Ride".

boats, rows_per_boat, riders_per_row

Must be used together. If one of the fields is missing none of the information entered will be displayed. Must contain only numeric characters.

custom_label_1, custom_value_1, custom_label_2, custom_value_2, etc.

If there is a general statistic that is missing from the above categories, include it here. The label fields will appear in bold on the left while the values will appear normally on the right.

virtual_queue_name, virtual_queue_image, virtual_queue_status

Use these fields if there is a virtual queuing system available. The name parameter is used to describe what it is (e.g. Disney's Fastpass, Universal Express, Dreamworld's Q4U). The status field should read "available" if the virtual queuing system is available. The image parameter should contain the name without the or tag. Examples include:

• Universal express availability icon.JPG
• Fastpass availability icon.svg
• Dreamworld Q4U logo.png

single_rider, accessible, transfer_accessible

Include this field followed by the word "available" if any of these apply to the attraction. "accessible" refers to Wheelchair Accessibility. "transfer_accessible" means riders must transfer from wheelchair.

Article categories

Any article containing this template is automatically added to Category:Water rides and additional categories based on the following parameters:

type

if "free flow boat ride" add Category:Free flow boat rides

if "log flume" add Category:Log flume rides

if "raft" or "river rafting" add Category:River rapids rides

if "shoot the chute" or "shoot the chutes" add Category:Shoot the Chute rides

if "tow boat ride" add Category:Tow boat rides

manufacturer

manufacturer-category

if defined add , such as Category:Water rides manufactured by Intamin

Tracking category

Category:Amusement ride article using undocumented parameters (0) is a hidden maintenance/tracking category used to track any articles which contain this template and include any of the following parameters:

• height – removed, use height_ft or height_m
• drop – removed, use drop_ft or drop_m
• length – removed, use length_ft or length_m
• speed – removed, use speed_mph or speed_km/h
• sitearea – removed, use sitearea_sqft or sitearea_sqm
• restriction – removed, use restriction_ft / restriction_in or restriction_cm

Microformats

The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the place-name and location parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia, or via a browser tool operated by a person, to (for example) add the subject to an address book. Within the hCard is a Geo microformat, which additionally makes the coordinates (latitude & longitude) parsable, so that they can be, say, looked up on a map, or downloaded to a GPS unit. For more information about the use of microformats on Wikipedia, please see the microformat project.

Sub-templates

If the place or venue has "established", "founded", "opened" or similar dates, use start date for the earliest of those dates unless the date is before 1583 CE.

If it has a URL, use URL.

Please do not remove instances of these sub-templates.

Classes

hCard uses HTML classes including:

• adr
• agent
• category
• county-name
• extended-address
• fn
• label
• locality
• nickname
• note
• org
• region
• street-address
• uid
• url
• vcard

Geo is produced by calling coord, and uses HTML classes:

• geo
• latitude
• longitude

Please do not rename or remove these classes nor collapse nested elements which use them.

Precision

When giving coordinates, please use an appropriate level of precision. Do not use coord's |name= parameter.
